Shoes for Strength

I recently invested in a new pair of shoes for strength training. I recently became aware that you aren't suppose to wear your "regular" gym shoes when lifting because they don't have the required support for lifting heavy weights. Regular running shoes or gym shoes have cushioning between the heal and sole of the foot to absorb the impact when your foot hits the ground. In strength training, you want to keep your feet close to the ground, almost a grip on the floor to ensure you maintain proper balance and form.

After doing some research, I came across these New Balance shoes that are part of the Minamalist line. They teamed up with Vibram, the makers of the Barefoot Running shoe to offer a new type of shoe made for those who want minimum the feel of Vibrams without the toe thingies...They are really comfortable and come in a variety of colors.

After a week of using these shoes, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I don't feel like I am falling all over the place when I'm doing lunges and squats which is important for injury prevention. I even tried them for running today and no pain! I usually have pain in my shins when I run, but I actually felt like I could run faster without having a heavy foot.

;) Until next time

  1. those LOOK comfy. I have been looking for some good shoes to do Insanity in at my home. I will add these to my list of things to check out.

    1. Nice...Insanity is great, I think these would probably work well with it since they are light and you can move quick since Insanity has a lot of quick movements. Maybe I should do a test run for you ;)
